Game of Thrones

The HBO drama Game of Thrones is an adaptation of the series of fantasy novels by George R.R. Martin. Set in the fictitious world of Westeros, a medieval kingdom that shares similarities to the Wars of the Roses era of England, Game of Thrones follows a plethora of major and characters that are caught in the political intrigue surrounding the Iron Throne. Such attributes as honor, loyalty, deceit and betrayal each play a role as the competing families of Baratheon, Lannister, Targaryen and Stark attempt to outmaneuver their opponents, while members of the king’s court—which includes the pragmatic Lord Varys and unscrupulous Petyr Baelish—pursue their own Machiavellian agendas. With an epic narrative, tightly woven scripts, sweeping cinematography and award-winning acting, Game of Thrones is the small screen version of The Lord of the Rings trilogy that ultimately serves as a worthy equal.
